Advent WreathThe season of Advent begins with the lighting of the Advent wreath, a tradition symbolizing hope, peace, joy, and love. Each Sunday during Advent, our parish community gathers for Mass, where we light a new candle on the wreath, reflecting on the journey toward Christ’s birth.
We encourage you to bring this tradition into your own home by lighting an Advent wreath with your family. Set aside time each week for prayer and reflection as you prepare your hearts for Christmas.
Christmas Parish Potluck and Nativity Play December 7 | 5:00 PMStart the season with a heartwarming evening of fellowship and joy at our Christmas Parish Potluck. Bring a dish to share and enjoy the company of fellow parishioners as we celebrate the Advent season together.
The evening will feature a special Nativity Play performed by the youth of Mary Queen of Peace. This delightful retelling of the Christmas story is a highlight of the season, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas through the eyes of our children.
Christmas Cookie FundraiserDecember 8 | NoonGet into the holiday spirit with our Advent Cookie Sale! Join us after the 11AM Mass to pick up delicious, homemade cookies. It’s the perfect way to add sweetness to your Advent celebrations while supporting our parish Vacation Bible School during the summer.
Advent Mission Series with Father Keith Pellerin December 11-13 | 6:00 PM - 7:30 PMThis year, we are blessed to welcome Father Keith Pellerin for a three-night Advent Mission Series. Each evening, Father Keith will guide us in reflecting on the themes of Advent, deepening our spiritual preparation for Christmas.
Whether you attend one night or all three, this series promises to renew your faith and help you draw closer to Christ during this sacred season.
Advent Reconciliation and Parish Pizza Night December 13 | 7:30 PMAs part of our Advent Mission Series, we will hold a special Advent Reconciliation Service. This is a beautiful opportunity to prepare your heart for Christmas through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Afterward, join us in the Parish Hall for a pizza night—a time for fellowship and relaxation as we continue our Advent journey together.
Advent is about more than decorations and shopping; it’s about preparing our hearts and homes for the coming of Christ. Here are some ways you and your family can embrace the true spirit of Advent:
- Daily Prayer and Reflection: Take time each day to pray as a family, reflecting on the Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love.
- Acts of Kindness: Look for opportunities to share Christ’s love with others through acts of charity and kindness.
- Simplify Your Christmas Preparations: Focus on meaningful traditions that help your family celebrate the birth of Jesus.
- Participate in Parish Events: Engage with your parish community through the events and activities planned at Mary Queen of Peace.
This Advent season, let us prepare together as a parish family, focusing on the hope and joy that the birth of Jesus brings into our lives. Join us at Mary Queen of Peace for worship, reflection, and community as we journey toward Christmas.
We can’t wait to celebrate this sacred season with you and your family. May your Advent be filled with peace, joy, and the light of Christ!
